Now with all the Galaxy Nexus variants with their own ports, and the HTC One X also receiving the love, the International Galaxy S III wasn’t going to be left behind.  XDA Recognized Developer and Contributor Faryaab, along with help from randomblame, has successfully ported Jelly Bean onto the Galaxy S III.  The port is based on the Galaxy Nexus OTA and a modified CM9 kernel.  Below is a list things Faryaab states is working and not working on the device:

What Works:

  • ADB
  • Touchscreen
  • Hardware Acceleration
  • Notification LED
  • Cellular Rado (But No Audio so no Calls)
  • Physical Buttons
  • SMS
  • Accelerometer
  • Charging
  • Maybe More

What Doesn’t work:

  • Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/NFC
  • Audio
  • Camera
  • MTP
  • Storage
  • Maybe more

Obviously many of these functions are pretty important, like sms or calling, but it’s fun to see the development start.  The file is posted in the thread that you can flash to the device for those of you that are interested.  Please be sure to back up your device before doing anything just to be safe.  Safety first please…  Be sure to let us know if you’re messing around with Jelly Bean on your GS3 and what your thoughts are!
